Five Things You Can Do Now to Improve Your Family's Health


1.    Eat meals together as a family as often as possible. 


2.    Turn off the television, computer and video games, especially during family meals.  The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends no more than 2 hours of screen time per day.


3.    Cut out the extra sugar calories from your drinksDrink water instead of soda, juice, sports drinks or other sweetened beverages.


4.    Make daily physical activity fun and part of your family’s regular daily routine.  Just like you brush your teeth everyday, exercise every day, but make it fun!  Let each family member chose an activity.  Exercise ideas: go for a family walk after dinner, turn on some music and have your own dance party, go to a local park, or make your own obstacle course in your home. If you enjoy animals, get a dog. When you walk your dog, you will get exercise too!


5.    Tell your children you love them regularly and frequently.  Let your children know they are loved regardless of their shape or size.
